Condition Assessment, Repair Documents, Construction Administration

Deterioration at the Westchester Medical Center parking structure, originally constructed 1998, was reported by the Center. Walker was retained to provide a condition assessment of the garage.

Notable findings included concrete scaling along slabs, delamination due to rusting of embedded reinforcement and connections and freeze-thaw damage, rusted metal connections, spalled/cracked concrete curbs, and spalls at drains and along construction and expansion joints.

Following the delivery of the report, Walker designed repairs, which included replacement of sections of concrete topping, full depth slab replacement, concrete surface repairs, and replacement of waterproofing elements.

We also assisted the Center with contractor bidding services and provided construction administration to verify that work was performed per repair documents.

Our multi-phase program enhanced financial planning for the Center and maximized available budgets for repairs and maintenance, ultimately reducing their overall costs for repair.
