University of Missouri Parking and Transportation Master Plan

Walker Consultants developed a parking and transportation master plan for the University of Missouri. The plan serves as a roadmap to guide future parking and transportation decision-making, to help optimize the University’s parking and transportation system, and to recommend customer service enhancements and operational efficiencies.

Crafting the plan involved many steps and participants. Input and feedback was gathered through advisory committee meetings, the University’s Department of Parking and Transportation Services, staff interviews, focus groups, a community forum, and a campus-wide online survey.

Walker’s plan includes specific enhancements to operations, equipment, and procedures to streamline administration and improve customer service. It expands and improves access to alternative transportation modes and better differentiates parking rates to distribute demand more evenly. Walker built a financial pro forma to support parking and transportation programs, as well as ongoing and deferred maintenance. The recommendations also assure operational transparency and provide clear communications and informative marketing materials to the campus community.

With Walker’s master plan, the University can make better use of its existing parking resources, delay or avoid building new parking structures, and link its parking and transportation operation with sustainability goals. The plan will also increase revenue to better support services and capital infrastructure needs.
