When an eight-story hotel building was being constructed adjacent to two of our client’s Tribeca properties, Walker was retained to perform a condition survey of the buildings immediately after the hotel was topped out.
We compared the postconstruction conditions with preconstruction conditions and performed an engineering evaluation of observed conditions. This identified significant damage due to building movement as a direct result of the adjacent construction. We then developed a conceptual scope of work to repair the conditions caused by the adjacent construction. Based on the recommended repairs, the client was able to obtain cost estimates from contractors.
