Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) is a nationally ranked pediatric acute care teaching hospital affiliated with The Ohio State University College of Medicine. As part of a seven-year expansion project, NCH engaged Walker as prime designer/engineer of record and mechanical and electrical engineer for a new underground parking garage.
Located beneath the front lawn and connected via tunnel to the new hospital tower, the structure is 150,373 square feet, with 425 parking spaces underground, and includes pay-on-foot and pay-in-lane revenue control equipment. Sustainable elements such as an LED lighting system and elegantly landscaped public green space finishing the top of the garage lead the International Parking & Mobility Institute to recognize the structure with a 2013 Award of Merit.
