Intuitive Navigation at CLT

The Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) functions as a main point for commercial and military use in the Charlotte metropolitan area. Walker provided a peer review of the existing drawings and an evaluation of the new vehicle approach angles to support PARCS upgrades at the airport.

Upgrades Take Flight

Computer-aided design drawings and lane layouts, received through Autoturn software, depicted the Airport’s requirements for new equipment, conduits, and LPR cameras. Our team modified drawings to create new layouts which allow for a great user experience approaching the new drive lanes. Campus upgrades included new entry/exit stations, gates, a reservation system, and new equipment.

Enhanced Lane Configuration

Walker was able to identify areas of concern for not only the turn radii but also traffic and mobility concerns. Our team identified areas where alternate approach lanes and plazas were more efficient. Walker’s main goals for this project included improving infrastructure and addressing future airport parking challenges.

Systems for Traveler Convenience

The Airport approved alternate locations, improving the overall customer experience of parking at one of the nation’s largest airports. The construction drawings were utilized to get competitive pricing for the required infrastructure work, including parking island demolition and construction.
