Blue Earth County Government Center Parking Ramp

Walker Consultants provided parking consulting, functional design, and structural design services for the new parking ramp at the Blue Earth County Government Center. The renovated building and parking ramp provides a one-stop-shop for the residents of the county’s 11 cities and 23 townships to access government services.

The parking ramp contains 340 spaces on three levels (with two supported levels). The structure is located on a hill and designed to integrate seamlessly with the various levels of streets surrounding it. There are multiple stair towers, one providing direct access to the building (and accessible egress) on each level.

The multi-year renovation and expansion project was planned in three phases, beginning with demolishing the existing parking ramp. Walker reviewed the parking functional design to identify potential efficiencies and cost savings from revising or adjusting the layout of the parking ramp and then provided structural design for the post-tensioned superstructure of the new ramp.
