Can (pronounced “John”) is a Principal and Director of Forensics based in Walker’s Los Angeles office. Can has 20 years of experience in providing consulting and expert services for investigation and dispute resolution of structures damaged or collapsed by natural and man-made hazards including earthquakes, winds, fires, floods, vibrations, construction defects, design omissions, and performance failures. He provides peer review and plan check services for the design of structures and performs advanced analysis in the evaluation of existing structures. His expertise also includes performance-based seismic design and masonry structures.
Can has authored over 45 publications including papers in refereed journals, conference proceedings, and technical reports. He has been a speaker at several national and international meetings and conferences. He is the recipient of several national honors and awards. Can is a licensed Civil Engineer in California and Professional Engineer in Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Nevada, and Oklahoma.
