Walker Consultants has revolutionized parking at the West Deck of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), enhancing the traveler experience with cutting-edge technology and design. Our comprehensive services included parking consulting, functional design, and the deployment of a state-of-the-art Parking Access and Revenue Control System (PARCS) with an integrated Automated Parking Guidance System (APGS).
The West Deck facility spans seven levels, offering 5,772 parking spaces. Its design features a multi-lane, cascading express ramp system ensuring direct access to flat-floor parking spaces, optimizing convenience for users.
At the heart of the facility’s success is the advanced PARCS, designed to provide a seamless parking experience. Key features include:
- License Plate Recognition (LPR): The PARCS was introduced as a frictionless system and delivered on its promise from day one. Unlike traditional parking systems, it requires no physical tickets, using license plate recognition to streamline entry and exit processes.
- Multiple Payment and Reservation Options: Incorporating pay-on-foot stations, reservation capabilities, and various automated and cashier exits to accommodate all user preferences.
- Integration with Peach Pass: Exit lanes are equipped to link parking charges directly to the local highway toll accounts via Peach Pass, further easing the parking experience.
Our APGS design incorporates dynamic signage and camera-based occupancy monitoring to effortlessly guide visitors to available spaces, including designated ADA and EV charging spots. It also allows users to locate their vehicle by entering their license plate number at any of the PARCS pay-on-foot kiosks within the garage. This system makes finding a parking space intuitive and quick, enhancing the overall efficiency of the parking facility.
Walker’s implementation of PARCS and APGS at ATL’s West Deck represents a significant leap forward in parking solutions, offering an unmatched level of efficiency and convenience. This project enhances the overall experience for airport visitors, setting a new standard for airport parking facilities.
