Lenovo Headquarters Parking Structure

Morrisville, North Carolina
Lenovo needed a new parking structure for their U.S. headquarters in Morrisville, NC. Walker Consultants served as the parking consultant and structural engineer for the 5-level, 600-space garage.
The structure includes solar panels on the top and the west elevation that provide power for the daily needs of the facility, and can also supply excess power into the power grid. Walker provided mechanical/electrical/plumbing engineering to help optimize the facility for the solar installation. A bioswale near the structure captures stormwater runoff.
The structure is classified as an “open parking garage” and is not required to include automatic sprinklers or mechanical ventilation. It includes a two-bank elevator tower and two stair towers.
The structure was featured in the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute’s Ascent magazine and also in Parking.
